Melissa Hemsley - Real Healthy

Join Rebecca Fletcher and bestselling cookbook author, real food activist and sustainability champion, Melissa Hemsley, as they discuss Melissa's latest book, Real Healthy.  Passionate about spreading the power of feel-good food and celebrating accessible healthy food that everyone can enjoy, Melissa looks at how we can unprocess our diet with easy everyday recipes.

Melissa has long been an advocate for making wholesome, healthy food at home and is passionate about providing solutions for people who are scared by the headlines, and keen to make cost- and time- effective changes that help un-process their everyday diet.  This is not a diet book nor a demonisation of ultra-processed foods. Melissa is not suggesting that completely cutting out UPFs is necessary or even possible (they are an essential option for some people), instead Real Healthy is a cookbook hoping to provide solutions for those looking to redress the balance of what’s on their plates.

Tucking In with Sophie Wyburd

Join host Rebecca Fletcher for another fantastic evening of feasting and foodie chat at The Yard with chef, recipe writer and previous Mob head of food, Sophie Wyburd.

Sophie's new book, Tucking In, is a love letter to the people who have fed her, and all the people she has fed.  Sophie's varied career has seen her working as a restaurant chef, in food styling and heading up the food team at Mob. She now brings simple, comforting home cooking to the masses via social media and her newsletter, Feeder, whilst cooking up a storm at her sold-out supper clubs, and co-hosting I’ll Have What She’s Having and A Bit of a Mouthful podcasts.  Sophie is a big believer that good food does not mean complicated food – whether it’s a bowl of something warming for a friend on a Tuesday night or squeezing a crowd of ten around your table in mismatched chairs on a sunny Saturday afternoon.

In Conversation with Bestselling author Claire Fuller

Join Rebecca fletcher at The Arc Winchester as she talks to writer Claire Fuller about her latest book, The Memory of Animals.

Neffy is a young woman running away from grief and guilt and the one big mistake that has derailed her career. When she answers the call to volunteer in a controlled vaccine trial, it offers her a way to pay off her many debts and, perhaps, to make up for the past.

But when the London streets below her window fall silent, and all external communications cease, only Neffy and four other volunteers remain in the unit. With food running out, and a growing sense that the strangers she is with may be holding back secrets, Neffy has questions that no-one can answer. Does safety lie inside or beyond the unit? And who, or what is out there?

While she weighs up her choices, she is introduced to a pioneering and controversial technology which allows her to revisit memories from her life before: a childhood divided between her enigmatic mother and her father in his small hotel in Greece. Intoxicated by the freedom of the past and the chance to reunite with those she loves, she increasingly turns away from her perilous present. But in this new world where survival rests on the bonds between strangers, is she jeopardising any chance of a future?

The Memory Of Animals is a taut and emotionally charged novel about freedom and captivity, survival and sacrifice and whether you can save anyone before you save yourself.

Women, Art & the Spirit World with Jennifer Higgie

Rebecca Fletcher will be joined by Jennifer Higgie, one of our foremost art writers and respected art critics at work today, to discuss gender and art history and the lives, work and artistic influences of some of history's most innovative artists who explored the boundaries between this world and the next - many of whom are celebrated in New York's Guggenheim and Tate Gallery collections.

Her latest book, The Other Side - A Journey into Women, Art and the Spirit World explores the lives and work of a group of extraordinary women.  From 12th century mystic, composer and artist Hildegard of Bingen to 19th century English spiritualist Georgiana Houghton, whose paintings swirl like a cosmic Jackson Pollock; the early 20th century Swedish artist, Hilma af Klint*, who painted with the help of her spirit guides and whose recent exhibition at New York's Guggenheim broke all attendance records to Agnes Pelton, who painted her visions beneath the vast skies of California; the Swiss healer, Emma Kunz, who used geometric drawings to treat her patients; and British surrealist and occultist, Ithell Colquhoun, whose estate of more than 5,000 works recently entered the Tate Gallery collection.  All these women had a desire to communicate with, and learn from, other dimensions.  Gender exclusions of art history, contemporary relevance of myth and the impact of spiritualism on feminism and contemporary art, Jennifer shares her radical reappraisal of a marginalised group of artists in this intoxicating blend of memoir, biography and art history.
